Background

The Golden Recipe is a third-person adventure linear RPG that combines combats and cooking challenges. The ultimate goal is to collect the epic golden recipe, kept by the boss lurking at the heart of the dungeon. During the gameplay, players play as the chef, increase the combat power by cooking magical meals and eventually win the battle with the boss.

  • Designed the game core loop: fight, collect and cook. 

  • Co- designed the cooking system and levels.

  • Designed the user flow of game UI 

  • Created character animations: idle, jump, run, attack, skills.

  • Designed and edited the teaser video.

The Golden Recipe is the final project of the game design course of the MDM program. As the game designer, I designed the core mechanic and the cooking system. I also challenged myself in the role of 2D artist, delivered character and monster design, a series of character animation, and the teaser video of the game.

 

The Golden Recipe is a third-person adventure linear RPG that combines combats and cooking challenges. The ultimate goal is to collect the epic golden recipe, kept by the boss lurking at the heart of the dungeon. During the gameplay, players play as the chef, increase the combat power by cooking magical meals and eventually win the battle with the boss.

 To acquire new abilities, players are required to collect ingredients from monsters and cook up special magical meals. Before the battle, a campfire will be set for players to make the meal. The mastery of culinary arts will be imperative to the final success.

 

This project is the final project of the game design course of the MDM program. As the 2D artist, I delivered character and monster design, a series of character animation, and the trailer of the gameplay.
